     4-H Youth Development

The advisor update will be Thursday, Feb. 22nd at the Extension Office starting at 7 p.m. At least one advisor from each club MUST be present in order for that club to be recognized as a club. The chartering process will be done at that meeting allowing the club to function as a 4-H club in Lawrence County, Ohio.

 
4-H Volunteer Information

Clover College for 2007

Clover college is a meeting for advisor to learn or refresh themselves on topics and projects. It is also for members to learn about being officers and their projects. Family members are welcome to come. Adult and youth volunteer alike are encouraged to teach sessions.

Clover College is scheduled for March 15, 2007. It will be at the Collins Career Center with many informative sessions for youth, advisors and parents. There will be door prizes and a meal provide by the 4-H Committee. Please RSVP to office with numbers coming

4-H New Volunteer Information

Are you looking for a way to work with kids and pass along your life experiences? Do want to spend more time with your own kids in fun and challenging activities for the whole family? Well, if you are - 4-H is the place to be! 4-H needs individuals like you to help youth grow into capable, competent and caring citizens. We would like to encourage you to become a 4-H volunteer. No matter what your age or where you live, 4-H needs you. Read the following information to find out how to go about becoming a 4-H volunteer. 

The Ohio State University Extension and the 4-H program wants to assure parents and family that 4-H advisors and volunteers are carefully screened to help make sure our children will be working with adults that care about their well being. To help in this endeavor, a selection and screening process to implemented for people seeking to become 4-H volunteers. The steps an individual must complete by April 1 in order to be considered for a volunteer position are:

1.      Complete an application to be a volunteer.

2.      Receive two positive references.

3.      Schedule a personal interview with the 4-H agent.

4.      Read and sign a Behavior of Standards form.

5.      Read and sign a Youth Protection Policy.

6.      Have a BCI background check ($25 cash) conducted at the Lawrence County Educational Center.

7.      Attend and complete an orientation session scheduled at the Extension Office.
 
 ALL these steps must be completed before you become a volunteer and work with 4-H members.

Monday, February 12      7:00 p.m.

Tuesday, March 20    7:00 p.m.
