The Lawrence County 4-H Camps
"Teaching youth environmental education and conservation practices while developing skills in leadership and working in groups"

Where are Lawrence County 4-H Camps held? 

Lawrence County is a member of the Canter's Caves 4-H Camp Corporation which owns and operates the Elizabeth L. Evans Outdoor Education Center in Jackson, Ohio. This beautiful, almost 300 acre wooded area is nestled in the hills of southern Ohio with scenic views, hiking trails and a variety of plant and animal life. When are the Lawrence County 4-H Camps? 

Dates for 2007

3rd and 4th Grade Camp  June 6-9, 2007 with Adams, Gallia and Meigs counties

5th and 6th Grade Camp  June 9-12, 2007 with Highland, Pike and Scioto counties

7th and 8th Grade Camp  June 24-27, 2007 Southern Ohio

Teen Camp                                      June 28- July 1, 2007 So. Ohio

What are the age breakdowns for camp? 

Camp is based on the grade they were in on January  1, 2007. Lawrence will be camping with members from Adams, Gallia and Meigs counties for the 3rd and 4th grade camp.

5th and 6th grade camp will be with Highland, Pike and Scioto counties.

7th and 8th grade camp will be a southern Ohio camp with youth from 16 different counties.

Teen camp is for youth 14 years and older or ninth grade and above. Lawrence will be camping with members from Southern Ohio (16 counties).

Youth Counselors are needed for all Camps? 

Youth counselors are used at the beginners and intermediate camp. Counselors will learn many skills in trainings before camp to help them serve as camp counselors. They will develop the following skills:

  • planning
  • teaching
  • organization
  • mentoring
  • communication
  • working with groups
  • conflict management

If any youth 13 years old or older is interested in becoming a camp counselor, please complete the application and attend the training meetings listed on the form. 

How do we register? 

Complete the register form, health form, activity release, photo release, and early/restricted release form (if applicable) and send with your check to the OSU Extension Office, 1 Veteran's Square, Ironton, Ohio 45638.

Cloverbud Day Camp

The 2007 Cloverbud Day Camp is for 4-H members aged 5-8 is June 13. The cost is $5 and lunch will be provided. Look at the following forms for more information and return the registration form by June 8.
